Bronx Community College Secular Humanist Club
The Secular Humanist Club provides a "safe space" for nontheistic students at Bronx Community College to support one another, build community, discuss ideas, share resources, and engage in activities that further the cause of reason-driven thinking and living: reading groups, film screenings, lectures, panel discussions, community service, debates, and other events designed to bring secularist concerns to the attention of the college community. The SHC also participates in and cosponsors events with other local and national organizations.
The club has the following goals:
- Increase visibility and acceptance of Secular Humanism on campus
- Organize educational and social events on campus related to Secular Humanism
- Provide support and resources for nontheistic and Humanist-curious students
The SHC is open to all students who are interested in exploring the possibility of living a life guided by reason, justice and ethics rather than by religion and superstition, and who believe that human achievement and worth are fine and noble things in themselves. Whether you consider yourself a humanist, atheist, agnostic, skeptic, rationalist, doubter, naturalist, bright, freethinker, or no label at all—or are simply interested in learning more about secular humanism—you are welcome to become a member of the SHC.
